Middle East Section business meeting and reception
Please plan to attend the Middle East Section business meeting on Saturday, November 23 from 6:15-8:15pm in the Renaissance Blackstone Hotel, Metra room. The program should wrap-up by around 7:30 or so and will be followed by a reception. The agenda for the meeting includes:
* brief reports from the section assembly meeting and our board meeting
* presentation of our Student Paper Prize to Jess Bier (in absentia)
* presentation of our Distinguished Scholar Award to Marcia Inhorn, followed by her remarks titled “Roads Less Travelled in Middle East Anthropology”
* report/follow-up from the organizers of Thursday’s panel on “Controversial Engagements: Public Intellectuals, Their Institutions, and the Academic Boycott of Israel”
