The Middle East Section is accepting nominations for its bi-annual book award. This award is given to an anthropological work (single- or multi-authored, but not edited volumes) that speaks to issues in ways that hold relevance beyond our subfield. Criteria may include: innovative approaches, theoretical sophistication, and topical originality.
Books submitted for the 2021 award must have a publication date in 2020 or 2019.
Submissions for this award should include a brief letter of nomination or self-nomination. Please send this letter, along with a copy of the book, to each of the committee members listed below. The letter and book may arrive separately (nominators/ authors can contact the editorial office of their press to have books shipped directly to committee members). Awardees will be announced in fall 2021.
All submissions must be received by April 25, 2021.
